Wilbur Outfitters offers a wide variety of fishing options from offshore to inshore and even back-country sight fishing. We have something for everyone from expert to beginner and we can tailor the trip to suit exactly what you and your crew are looking for.

FISHING CHARTERS

Offshore Fishing Charters

Come out to the Atlantic! Trips offshore will range from 6-8 hours either trolling or bottom fishing. Trolling will target Pelagic fish from Mahi to Wahoo as well as many more species. Bottom fishing will target Red Snapper, Grouper, Black Sea Bass, and Cobia as well as other species.

Near Shore Fishing Charters

Don’t want to go out so far? We also charter shorter trips. Near-shore fishing charters will range from 4-6 hours. This could include bottom fishing wrecks right off the coast or chasing shrimp boats for tarpon.

Inshore Fishing Charters

Wilbur-by-the-Sea is part of the beautiful intracoastal waterway of Florida’s east coast. Inshore fishing charters range from 4-6 hours targeting the Halifax river or back water creeks in Spruce Creek. These trips target fish like Bull Reds, Slot Red Drum, Snook, Black Drum, Flounder and Mangrove Snapper.

Back Country Fishing Charters

Our back-country charters range from 4-6 hours and take place in very shallow waters in creeks and Mosquito Lagoon. We will be targeting Red Drums, Black Drums, Flounder and Snook.

Sunset Fishing Charters

Looking for more ambiance? We offer sunset charters for up to 4 people for two hours before sunset (depends on season). This is a beautiful way to fish or just enjoy the local waterways!

We follow the FWC guidelines for our catch!
If your fish meets the legal size and are currently in season, all catch will be filetted once back at the dock for customers to take home and eat. Don’t want to eat your fish? We will release them back where they were caught.

VESSELS

Wilbur Outfitters offers two different types of vessels for charters. There will be a 26′ center console for all your offshore and inshore charters and a 17′ flats boat for sight fishing in the back country.

• Andros Tarpon 26
  The Tarpon 26 has an extremely shallow draft, sharp entry and high bow, the Tarpon 26 goes where it wants and when it wants. Backwater snook and tailing reds one day, wahoo and dolphin the next. Andros is located in Sarasota, Florida and–in our opinion–is by far one of the best boats for inshore, near-shore or off-shore fishing. The layout lets clients move freely around the vessel without feeling congested.
• Mitzi Skiff
  The Mitzi Skiff is a tactical poling skiff for very skinny water to sight fish. It is a boat with capacity for 2 people plus the Captain (3 persons total).

CAPTAIN AND CREW

Wilbur Outfitters team is a seasoned crew. All current charters will be on the water with Captain Frank L. Thompson–founder of Wilbur Outfitters and a true Daytona Beach native. FAQ

What’s provided on the Wilbur Outfitters Charter?

We provide all the fishing gear you’ll ever need: Bait, lures, lines, rods, tackle. All our fishing gear is top-of the-line (and expensive!) so we ask that you please treat our gear as if it were your own.

We launch our fishing charters from various locations in the area. We will arrange a meeting point based on the type of fishing charter you prefer.

We love taking photos and will be capturing your day via iPhone during the entire trip. We’ll share those shots with you at the end of the day so you can post your catch to make the internet very jealous! If you had a good time, we hope you tag us @wilbur_outfitters on Instagram.

Can I bring my own food and drink?

We do provide some bottled drinking water onboard. Guests are welcome and encouraged to bring their own food and drink as well.

Canned beer (no glass bottles) is permitted for those of legal drinking age. We ask that you do not bring hard liquor. Please drink responsibly. We have a large food and beverage cooler and can accomodate another one or two smaller coolers provided by our guests.

Have a party platter or something special like a birthday cake? Just let us know and we’ll try to make accomodations for your favorite treats.

What should I wear?

Our Florida sun is bright and hot and can do some damage out on the open water. Do yourself a favor and please wear sun-appropriate clothing and bring sun block and cover-ups. If you’d like to go swimming on our trip (which is completely possible–just ask!), you can wear a swimsuit.
